British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has a new Labor Cabinet. He made the announcement today, just one day after taking over for the retiring Tony Blair. His Cabinet includes the first female home secretary, Jacqui Smith. Brown named his longtime political ally Alistair Darling as his own replacement for finance minister. The reshuffling of the Cabinet is expected to be the biggest shakeup in government since the Labour Party came to power in 1997.

U.N nuclear inspectors have set a timeline for North Korea's nuclear closure. A July date has been announced to start monitoring the closure of the country's atomic plant in Yongbyon. International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors toured that plant today. It was the first time inspectors saw the facility since North Korea expelled them from the country in 2002.

Iraqi police say they found twenty decapitated bodies southeast of Baghdad today. Authorities are currently investigating the situation. Also today, at least twenty people were killed when a car bomb detonated in the Iraqi capital. The blast reportedly ripped through crowds at a bus terminal and set about 40 vehicles on fire.

U.S. House lawmakers are receiving a raise. They voted yesterday to accept about a $4,400 pay increase. That will boost their salaries to almost $170,000. This comes after the pay hike was killed last year and again in January due to a fight between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats fulfilled a campaign promise to deny themselves a pay increase until Congress raised the minimum wage.
